WREA is a not-for-profit organization, owned by its members. The money to cover day-to-day operating costs of the cooperative comes directly from the members paying their monthly electric bills.
Each year WREA subtracts operating expenses from revenues. A positive balance is allocated as Capital Credits and is a returned back to the members based on patronage each year.
The Board reviews the financial conditions of the cooperative and decides if WREA will retire Capital Credits back to the members. This can come as a credit on your electric bill in October or you can pick up a check during our member Appreciation Day in Rapid City or the Annual Meeting in Wall.
